3D CGI Concept modelling and visualisation. It was important to create a accurate model of the vehicle from scratch, but there were no drawings or detailed information available – just a limited set of perspective photographs and the overall dimensions. This is a fully articulated and rigged model  – with animating roof and other components.

Tech notes

The vehicle was modelled by ‘perspective camera matching’ from a limited number of photos that we were able to find. Once an accurate camera match was established a bounding box of the vehicles’ known overall dimensions was matched to the image. We were then able to add additional proxy geometry, positioned to match the location of major features of the vehicle, and from that get real world locations of those features for the modelling work. This process was repeated across a number of different images to refine and cross-check the positional info.
